Why I Became a Florist: The Heart Behind Out & Blooming Florals

Welcome to the garden! My name is Andrew and I am the owner of Out & Blooming Florals.

When I started Out & Blooming Florals, it wasn’t just about arranging flowers — it was about creating something meaningful. As a local florist in Owings Mills, MD and serving the entire Baltimore area, I’ve always been amazed by how flowers can completely transform a space and a moment. Their colors, textures, and the quiet stories they tell remind me that beauty and emotion often live in the simplest details.

For me, floristry is a blend of art and emotion. Every custom floral arrangement I create has a purpose — to celebrate, to comfort, to say what words can’t. I’ve always been drawn to how flowers can express something deeply personal: joy, love, remembrance, hope. There’s a certain magic in helping someone translate their feelings into petals and stems.

My favorite flower has always been the lily. It’s elegant and strong — a reminder that beauty can be both bold and soft at the same time. That balance is what I try to bring to every design I create for my clients across Owings Mills and the greater Baltimore area.

One of the reasons I love working with flowers is that they quietly remind us to live in the here and now. Their time is fleeting — a bloom only lasts for a short while — and that impermanence makes them even more special. Each arrangement is a moment captured in color and form, a gentle reminder to pause, appreciate, and be present before it fades.

Starting Out & Blooming Florals came from a desire to share that feeling with others. I wanted to offer arrangements that aren’t just “standard,” but personal — crafted through conversation, collaboration, and care. Every bouquet I make starts with a story — your story — and I’m honored each time someone trusts me to bring theirs to life.

At the end of the day, being a florist means more than working with flowers. It means creating moments, evoking emotion, and bringing beauty into people’s everyday lives. And that’s why I do what I do.

If you’re looking for a florist in the Owings Mills and greater Baltimore area who designs with intention, I’d love to create something meaningful for you. Let’s work together to craft an arrangement that reflects the story you want to tell.
